About EvalNetworks
In 2015, EvalPartners harnessed several global advocacy and outreach efforts that culminated in declaring it the “International Year for Evaluation” (EvalYear2015) by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly. During EvalYear2015, 100+ events were held worldwide to promote evaluation and contribute to the development of a Global Evaluation Agenda 2016-2020, also known as the EvalAgenda2020.
The EvalAgenda recognizes that evaluation often makes major contributions to governments and communities, but largely works behind the scenes and consequently its potential for major impact is under-recognised. Decision-makers often do not sufficiently rely on the evidence that evaluations generate to assist in making better, more inclusive decisions.
To drive forward the Global Evaluation Agenda globally, EvalPartners launched five thematic networks that became the key operational vehicles of EvalPartners. In the 2018-2020 period, EvalPartners prioritised and successfully implemented building capacity to evaluate the SDGs, stimulating the professional development of evaluators, raising the profile of evaluation amongst a wide range of stakeholders, and consolidating the ongoing work and initiatives of the five EvalPartners networks.
The five networks are:
- EvalGender+
- EvalYouth
- EvalIndigenous
- EVALSDGs
- The Global Parliamentarian Forum for Evaluation (GPFE)
