Evaluating SDGs with an equity-focused and gender responsive lens

Following the approval of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the UN General Assembly, EvalGender+United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) and the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of UN Women, in collaboration with EvalPartnersGlobal Parliamentarians Forum for EvaluationInternational Organizations for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Swiss Development CooperationConeval Mexico, the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Tunisia launched a multi-stakeholder consultative process to develop guidance to strengthen M&E systems to assess SDGs with an equity-focused and gender-responsive lens.

4. Guidance to Evaluate SDGs with an equity-focused and gender-responsive lens

“Evaluating the Sustainable Development Goals with a “No one left behind” lens through equity-focused and gender-responsive evaluation” is a new publication that aims to support national evaluation systems on how to integrate equity-focused and gender-responsive evaluation to inform national reviews of SDGs. The guidance proposes a step by step framework for country-led evaluations that are equity-focused and gender-responsive as well as a strategy to integrate equity-focused and gender-responsive evaluations into national SDG reviews.
