Consultant to conduct an Evaluation of UNESCO’s programme interventions on girls’ and women’s education

The purpose of this evaluation is to inform decision-making and provide evidence-based recommendations on how to strengthen and sustain current girls’ and women’s education initiatives undertaken by UNESCO. The evaluation will also generate evidence on UNESCO’s performance in specific interventions implemented with the aim to improve education outcomes for girls and women, and to promote gender equality in education.

The principal objectives of the evaluation are to:
i) Ascertain the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, results and sustainability of initiatives
spearheaded by UNESCO to advance girls’ and women’s education.
ii) Clarify the strategic role and positioning of UNESCO in supporting girls’ and women’s education
at regional and country levels.
iii) Provide conclusions and actionable recommendations that can shape future programming and
implementation by UNESCO of initiatives aiming at girls’ and women’s education.

UN Women is recruiting an EVALUATION TEAM LEADER to undertake a rapid assessment of UN Women-Cameroon’s Humanitarian Project. The short evaluation exercise is commissioned by the Country Office (CO) as both a summative and forward-looking exercise aimed at supporting the CO and national stakeholders' strategic learning and decision-making. The purpose is to quickly determine the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency of the programme in delivering its intended outcomes.

Specifically, the evaluation seeks to take stock of programme achievements, challenges and opportunities; verify the continued relevance of the programme; assess the programme design, objectives, strategies and implementation arrangements and draw lessons learned and provide forward-looking options to inform the next round of project implementation, if any.
